BROOKLYN, Ohio — Several trucking terminals that closed unexpectedly in July have now been sold off to new owners.
According to a filing to Yellow Corp.’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, several of its Ohio facilities have been sold — including Holland terminal on Memphis Road in Brooklyn, and YRC Freight terminals in Richfield and Copley Township. All bids still need to be approved in bankruptcy court.
Yellow closed terminals abruptly and then filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection about a week later. The Associated Press reported that 30,000 people worked for Yellow and its subsidiaries, like Holland, YRC Freight and Reddaway.
It isn’t clear how many people lost jobs in the Greater Cleveland area, although a trucking terminal may employ 100 or more people.
According to the filing, Z Brothers Trucking bought the trucking terminal in Brooklyn for $4.2 million. The freight company has another terminal on Clinton Road in Brooklyn.
A company called Estes Express Lines bought the terminals in Copley Township and Richfield. Purchase prices for each property were not listed, but Estes Express Lines bought 24 terminals across the U.S. for just under $249 million.
Saia Freight bought a Yellow trucking terminal in Green that was closed in March before the company abruptly shut down all terminals in July. It bought 17 terminals for $236 million.
