Howard Hughes Corp. announced builders in Prairieland Village, the third of four planned villages in the 11,500-acre Bridgeland community in Cypress, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Houston. Presales have begun in Prairieland Village, which is planned for 7,000 homes and will open in spring of 2022.
The first four sections of Prairieland Village, named Mourning Cloak, after the butterfly, will offer homes by eight builders. The houses will be built on 40-, 45-, 50- and 55-foot lots and in September, 60-foot lots and larger will be available.
Highland Homes and David Weekley Homes will sell homes on 40-foot lots in Section 1. Chesmar Homes and Perry Homes will offer homes on 45-foot lots in Section 2. Beazer Homes, Lennar and M/I Homes will build homes on 50-foo lots in Section 3. MHI and Perry Homes will build on 55-foot lots in Section four.

Potential buyers can meet with builders in the model home park in Parkland Village until model homes begin opening in Prairieland Village this fall.
Prairieland Village will feature neighborhoods, streets, parks and lakes with names inspired by different species of butterflies. Planned amenities include a series of lakes, a lakefront pavilion, activity complex and village park, canoe and kayak launches, hiking and biking trails, bird-watching locations, catch-and-release fishing, neighborhood parks and playgrounds and shade pavilions. The community will use materials that connect with Cypress Creek ecology, including natural wood in seating and shade elements within park structures.
Mourning Cloak will be zoned to the Cy-Fair ISD. Future sections of Prairieland Village will be zoned primarily to Waller ISD and some to Katy ISD.
Bridgeland is the Houston region's top-selling community, with 857 home sales through the first quarter, according to Zonda, a housing information company.
