More than 50% of Carnival fleet in service by end-October
Carnival Corp. & plc said it's on pace for passenger operations to resume on 42 ships — more than 50% of its fleet — through the end of October. The ships span eight of the company's nine brands — all but P&O Cruises Australia.
The progress is part of Carnival Corp.'s previously announced goal to return 65% of capacity to begin the New Year.
The Carnival brands are taking a phased-in approach with sailings from major global ports in multiple regions around the world, including the US, Mexico, Caribbean, UK, Western Europe and the Mediterranean, among others.
Carnival Cruise Line plans to have 13 ships carrying passengers in October, rising to 17 ships by year-end. Princess Cruises aims to have six ships sailing in October, with eight operating by year-end. Holland America Line expects to have four ships operating in October and six by year-end, and plans for all 11 ships in its fleet to be in service by spring 2022. Seabourn expects to operate its full fleet by spring 2022, including new expedition ship Seabourn Venture's first sailing in April.
Costa Cruises aims to have five ships operating in October, with six by the end of 2021. AIDA Cruises plans to have eight ships carrying passengers by next month and 10 by year-end. P&O Cruises (UK) expects to field three ships in October, four by the end of the year. Additionally, P&O plans to operate its full fleet by spring 2022. Cunard aims for two of its three ships in service by the end of 2021 and has announced its remaining vessel will return in spring 2022.
