The Society of Collision Repair Specialists is inviting members of the collision repair industry to join in a celebration of remarkable individuals and businesses during the fourth Collision Industry Red Carpet Awards Breakfast at the 2021 SEMA Show.

Leading organizations will honor recipients with recognitions in eleven different award categories for their contributions to the industry during the ceremony, which has become established a noteworthy fixture of the SEMA show week events.

The breakfast will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd from 7-9 a.m. in the Upper South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center in room S233, SCRS said in a media release issued Thursday.

The event is free to attend, and will be limited to 200 seats on a first-come, first-served basis. It is sponsored by the participating associations, with added support from BodyShop Business and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists.

Jordan Hendler, facilitator of the Collision Industry Conference (CIC, held Tuesday during the SEMA Show) will serve as the emcee of the awards event.

“The Collision Industry Red Carpet Awards Breakfast places a priority on encouraging and recognizing greatness in individuals, companies, and actions in the collision repair industry, and the excitement and energy of the SEMA Show provides the perfect backdrop for such distinguished presentations,” SCRS said.

The event was not held in 2020 in light of the Covid pandemic.

This year’s event will include the following awards:

CIECA
CIECA Electronic Commerce Company of the Year
CIECA Outstanding Contribution
CIECA Chairperson’s Award

BodyShop Business
Single-Shop Executive of the Year Award
Multi-Shop Executive of the Year Award

Collision Repair Education Foundation
Fueling the Future Award

I-CAR
Russ Verona Memorial Award
Jeff Silver Award

Society of Collision Repair Specialists
The 2021 March Taylor Kina’ole Award
Collision Industry Non-Individual Service Award
Industry Achievement Award

SCRS drew special attention in its release to the March Taylor Kina’ole Award, created to honor the legacy of March Taylor, owner of Auto Body Hawaii in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and SCRS board member.

“Kina’ole is a Hawaiian term that has become representative of the legacy March Taylor has left behind within the SCRS organization. Kina’ole embodies a sentiment of flawlessness, defined as ‘doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, to the right person, for the right reason, with the right feeling, the first time,’” SCRS said.

Taylor established kina’ole as the society’s “guiding light,” SCRS said. “The industry lost Taylor on August 26th, 2007, but never lost the mentorship and sense of responsibility he instilled in many still sitting around the SCRS board table.”

“For SCRS, this award is about preserving the memory of our friend, and mentor, and identifying where his characteristics shine in others in ways that make this industry great. The award is not about an action, or activity, but rather an exhibition of character,” the society said.

The Kina’ole Award has been presented to Gary Wano, Jr. (GW and Son Auto Body), Petra Schroeder (Retired Axalta veteran active in the industry as a self-proclaimed “collisionista”) and the late John Norris (Collision Industry Information Assistance).
