NORTHAMPTON — The Keiter Corp. of Florence is donating $10,000 to the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce for a promotion that seeks to boost the local economy as it emerges from the COVID-19 shutdown.
The money will be used to double the purchasing power of Northampton Gift Cards sold by the chamber. That means a $25 gift card can be used to buy $50 in merchandise with participating Northampton merchants.
Under the “Kickstart the Community with a Keiter Card” campaign, cards will go on sale on Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the chamber offices, 99 Pleasant St. There is a limit of one card per customer and they will be sold while supplies last.
“We care about our community and where we live,” said Scott Keiter, founder and president of the Keiter Corp. with his wife, Jill, director of finance. “We saw this as an opportunity to raise awareness about our business in a way that benefits the local business community and consumers.”
The COVID-19 shutdown affected some businesses, families and individuals harder than others, he said. The campaign is intended to support the business community and bring positive energy downtown.
“We see this as a way to help people get back out there and feel better about having a nice meal and spending some time in downtown Northampton.”
The Northampton Gift Card is accepted at 65 restaurants, shops and other establishments.
Based in Florence, Keiter Corp. has provided general contracting and construction management services for commercial and residential projects in the Pioneer Valley since 2010.
