Frida Kahlo Corp. Fights TM Suit By Artist Booted Off Zazzle - Law360

Law360, San Francisco (June 26, 2020, 9:02 PM EDT) -- Panama-based Frida Kahlo Corp. urged a California federal judge Friday to toss a trademark suit brought by a California artist who says her artwork depicting the Mexican painter was wrongly booted off the online marketplace Zazzle, saying it had nothing to do with the move.

Darlene Barron of Trueba & Suarez PLLC, an attorney for Frida Kahlo Corp. and a related defendant company, told U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer during Friday's video hearing that the companies never lodged any trademark complaints with Zazzle Inc. about artist Cristine Melo's work, and that the companies shouldn't be part of the lawsuit.
