The collagen company said it scored above industry averages in its treatment of workers, among other highlights.
Leading collagen products brand Vital Proteins has gained B Corp Certification, which testifies to the company’s high standards of social and environmental practices. The company says it is “now part of a small but growing number of brands that have gained B Corp Certification, having undergone a rigorous review of its impact on its workers, customers, communities, and environment.”
The company scored especially high in its treatment of workers as it aims to foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promote its employees’ wellbeing. For instance, over 59% of the company’s managerial workers are women; its “lowest-paid hourly worker is compensated at least 50% more than the federal minimum wage and 33% more than the state minimum wage"; more than 50.8% of energy the company uses comes from low-impact renewable sources; and up to 74% of its product and packaging materials are recyclable or biodegradable in the areas where they are sold.
