CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Marine Corp. League will be holding a ball on Sunday, November 7th at 6 pm., to celebrate the 246th year of the Marines.

‘We’re carrying on the tradition... Once a Marine always a Marine, because no one is an ex-Marine. Once you’re in the Corp. you’re always in the Corp.,” said Jim Demshar, Senior Vice Commandant, Det. #772.

The ball typically falls on November 10th, the Marine Corp. birthday, this year there will be a ceremony, raffle and dinner, and tickets are $40.

The #772 Ed Herschler Detachment, invests in the community’s youth and supports other veterans.

They have formed an honor guard for veteran funerals, they fund a scholarship for veterans at LCCC and help veterans in need.

Recently they helped raise money for the family of the local Marine Rilee McCollum, who lost his life in Afghanistan.

They also have started a young Marines boot camp trailblazing program, for kids ages 8-18, to help give them healthy activities, instill good morals and life skills.

“But more than anything, is teaching them just to be a good citizen and honor and alligence to our country,” said Craig Draper, Commandant, Det. #772.

They are accepting donations so they can continue helping veterans and improving the community.
