FRAMINGHAM – Paul Colman passed away peacefully on June 18, 2021 at age 97.

He was born on August 15, 1923, in Chelsea, Massachusetts.  He grew up in Revere, then lived in Mattapan, Waltham, and ultimately Framingham.

In his younger years he was active in his temple and president of Revere B’nai B’rith Lodge.

He worked in public relations for the theatrical industry in Boston. Then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1943 to 1946. He was sent overseas, joining troops in the CBI (China, Burma, India Theater of Operations). He ultimately served in India on a reconnaissance mission.

Returning home from his military service, Paul spent the next 33 years in federal civil service employment. The first 4 years at the Navy department, the rest at the Army Corp of Engineers as a personnel management consultant.

Paul was a talented musician. He played saxophone and clarinet, and created his own dance band, “The Paul Colman Band”. He played in and around Boston, gathering many accolades from those who heard him play. His career in music spanned over 40 years’ time.

Paul was an avid reader, gathering knowledge throughout the years on geography and cultures of the world. He was learned and faithful to his Jewish heritage, learning all he could along the way. Jewish family traditions were very dear to his heart.

The last 35 years of Paul’s life have been spent with his significant other, Carol Kaufman, along with family and dear friends. Dancing, dining out and meeting with family and friends filled him with all the happiness he needed.

Paul is survived by the love of his life Carol, along with her children. Daughter Cheryl and her husband Bob, and grandchildren Chirstian and Yvonne. Son Daniel with Gina and granddaughter Gavrielle. Son, Steven. Daughter Tammy, her husband Nilton and grandchildren Lucas and Sophi. Paul also leaves sister-in-law Elaine Colman and three nephews, Loney, Evan, Sean, and their families. He is also survived Carol’s brother, David Harper.

Paul is preceded by his mother and father Paulene and Ray Colman, and brother Frank.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 10-11 a.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham followed by a funeral home service at 11A a.m.

Burial will take place in the family lot at Framingham Natick Jewish Cemetery, Natick.
