Buffalo Bills have a Top 5 receiving corp according to Pro Football Focus - BuffaLowDown

Last year the Buffalo Bills had one of the best passing offenses in the NFL and while Josh Allen gets a lot of the credit, and as he should, he wouldn’t have been able to have the season he did without the playmakers around him.

The addition of Stefon Diggs was a tremendous boost but he was only part of that passing attack as the team also had Cole Beasley, fourth round draft pick Gabriel Davis and veteran John Brown. The receiving corp is mostly intact from last year with the only change being John Brown is no longer with the team and he was replaced by Emmanuel Sanders.

This is why it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Buffalo Bills finished in the Top 5 of Pro Football Focus’ latest rankings of receiving corps in the NFL. The Bills actually finished fourth, behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Bills tight ends finished with a receiving grade of just 59.0 last season, good for 26th in the league. A Year 3 breakout from Dawson Knox would help, given that he’s graded in the ’50s as a receiver in his first two seasons. Jacob Hollister will compete for snaps as a move tight end who can separate in one-on-one situations.

The Bills have one of the best receiving units in the NFL once again, and more production out of their third and fourth options along with better play at tight end could put them at No. 1 by the end of the season.

It is hard to argue with Steve Palazzolo’s point about the need to get more production from the tight ends this year. The Buffalo Bills seem to still be in the discussion for Zach Ertz but if that doesn’t come together, this is a big season for Dawson Knox.

The former third round pick entering his third season in the league and with the only addition being Jacob Hollister, this seems to be a vote of confidence for the young tight end at this point in the offseason.

However, the part I disagree with is about production from the third and fourth options. Gabriel Davis was an excellent third option for this passing attack and made big plays when he was targeted. He finished second on the team in receiving touchdowns with seven and had an incredible 17.5 yards per reception average.

Another season with similar production from last year, should make Gabriel Davis a little bit more of a household name and really move this receiving corp further up these types of rankings.
