Insurance companies are welcoming more new general counsels at a time where catastrophic events have hit an unprecedented high.

Allianz, Allstate, Assurant, GEICO, New York Life Insurance, Pacific Life Insurance, Prudential Financial, Zurich Insurance Group have all recently named new legal leaders. A lot of movement has been caused by the retirements of GC veterans, some even serving 30 years in a corporate legal department.

Over the past few months, natural disasters have exacerbated the COVID-19 pandemic such as Hurricane Laura destroying parts of the southeastern U.S. and destructive wildfires in California raging amid a historic heatwave.
