How Much Are Gold Springs Resource Corp. (TSE:GRC) Insiders Spending On Buying Shares? - Yahoo Finance

It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Gold Springs Resource Corp. (TSE:GRC).

What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. As Peter Lynch said, 'insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise.

Gold Springs Resource Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Former Chairman of the Board Robert van Doorn made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for CA$100k worth of shares at a price of CA$0.05 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of CA$0.09. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

In the last twelve months Gold Springs Resource insiders were buying shares, but not selling. Their average price was about CA$0.061. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, we do note that they were buying at significantly lower prices than today's share price. Gold Springs Resource Insiders Bought Stock Recently

We saw some Gold Springs Resource insider buying shares in the last three months. Director Horst Daspersgruber shelled out CA$17k for shares in that time. It's good to see the insider buying, as well as the lack of recent sellers. But in this case the amount purchased means the recent transaction may not be very meaningful on its own.

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Based on our data, Gold Springs Resource insiders have about 3.2% of the stock, worth approximately CA$709k. I generally like to see higher levels of ownership.

So What Do The Gold Springs Resource Insider Transactions Indicate?

Insider purchases may have been minimal, in the last three months, but there was no selling at all. That said, the purchases were not large. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. We'd like to see bigger individual holdings. However, we don't see anything to make us think Gold Springs Resource insiders are doubting the company.
