Howard Hughes Corp. names new executive team - Houston Chronicle

Howard Hughes Corp. has appointed its interim CEO, David O'Reilly, as the Houston-based real estate and development company's permanent chief executive, according to a Tuesday announcement. It also named development veteran L. Jay Cross president.

O'Reilly, who joined Hughes in 2016 as chief financial officer, was promoted to president in June and named interim CEO in September after the departure of former Chief Executive Paul Layne. O'Reilly will continue to serve as CFO until a permanent successor is named.

Cross, former president of Related Hudson Yards, has a background in developing large, mixed-use projects. He also previously served as president of the New York Jets, where he was involved in the development of the $1.3 billion MetLife Stadium, a joint venture with the New York Giants. Cross also held leadership roles with the National Basketball Association's Miami Heat and was responsible for the development of the America Airlines Arena and, separately, the Air Canada Centre, home to the Toronto Raptors and Maple Leafs.

Hughes Corp., which recently relocated its corporate headquarters to The Woodlands from Dallas as part of a transformation plan, owns, manages and develops some of the country’s largest master-planned communities, as well as retail centers, office buildings, apartments, hotels and condominium properties. It's Houston-area properties include The Woodlands, The Woodlands Hills and Bridgeland.
